• Last month's shows were a bit of a disaster. The first show, on 17 May, was well–attended, but the audio feed from my computer kept skipping, which is worse than cutting out. At least when audio cuts out, the rhythm is kept in place. Playing along to a skipping track is like an accompaniment with a different tempo, and that's what happened throughout the entire first show. The skipping caused me to make mistakes, and the more the music skipped, the more I, and Nikhil, made mistakes.

The second show, on 30 May, went much better. The skipping was gone because I had fixed it the week before, but the turnout was lousy, and we didn't play to the best of our ability. Wow! Coming back to music after more than a decade is really proving difficult.

• Saje Lounge turned out all wrong. Nikhil had a prior engagement, so this was to be my first solo show. However, when I arrived, there were all these Christian Hip Hop artists playing, and I had been mistakenly booked on the same night. Seeing as how I booked this show months in advance, I think the booking agent made the mistake of booking me and these other groups on the same evening. Nonetheless, I set up, stayed to watch all the acts, then attempted to play my set.

No dice. By the time the last rap act performed, everyone had left. It made no sense for me to play.
