I used a Groove Tubes GT55 microphone, courtesy of Mr Mike
Dory, to capture the bass side of the piano, and an
AKG C414 B–ULS microphone, courtesy of Mr
Koji Matsuda, to capture the treble side. The result was
a clear recording of The Dedication, with slight audible
variations in tone. Extensive mastering sessions should
balance everything out.
The angel Koji was a godsend during the sessions. He
brought in extra mic cables, mic stands, helped me to
setup the recording room, and was an overall wonderful
addition to the 2–day session. It's nice to have
friends sent by angels.
And now, to the mastering sessions...
