- Joshua Berry
- Flamenco
-
Josh Berry started playing the guitar at age 5, but
his fingers hurt so much he gave up the instrument
for 7 years. When he gained the strength he taught
himself some chords and scales and later studied
jazz, blues, and rock. At Union College, where he
majored in music, he continued studying jazz and
blues but focused on composing in the Classical
style before finding flamenco in Spain. In Sevilla
he learned to play flamenco from Juan del Gastor,
nephew of the great Diego del Gastor.

- Milena Mepris
- Pop Punk
-
Milena Mepris (pronounced MEP–REE) is a rock
singer, songwriter, and guitarist from New York
City who isn't afraid to put prettiness and humor
back into rock and roll, with her soaring harmonies,
driving bass lines and unique melodies. Her
influences span from early Madonna to the grunge
sounds of Nirvana, to the classic rock of The
Rolling Stones, The Beatles, and Patti Smith, making
Ms. Mepris a force to be reckoned with on stage;
graceful yet tough at the same time.

- Source of Yellow
- Free Noise Out–Rock
-
SOURCE OF YELLOW is always trying to get lost
– whether by wandering directionless into
planes of color and overwhelming light, seeking out
the blackest brambled swamps, or by burying
themselves alive then frantically digging themselves
out at the last conscious moment, gasping.

- Balún
- Dreampop
-
Balún is an electro–acoustic
dream–pop outfit from San Juan, Puerto Rico
whose sound and influences can most easily be
spotted in bands like Ulrich Schnauss, the Icelandic
group Múm and Scottish wizards Boards of
Canada. Their sound is one of soft and sweet
rhythmic sound collages—simple guitar riffs,
subdued glitchy beats and sounds of bells, strings
and accordian accompanied by Angelica's
child–like dreamy singing. Her singing is
reminiscent of the type of quiet, low voiced song a
child absent mindedly sings to herself while
engrossed in drawing or making a princess' crown out
of field flowers. The product of the soundscapes
created by Balún is one of nostalgia, or
better yet, daydreaming. It's music to listen to
when you've realized you''ve wandered into an
unfamiliar place but you don't mind that you're
lost.

- Noise Floor Music
- Ambient | electronic | downtempo
-
The sound of Noise Floor Music, Roy Vanegas's solo
music project, is an amalgam of ambient textures,
downtempo rhythms, and mellifluous constructions.
It's a slow mix of post–rock and electronica.
(A fitting classification might be “post
electronica.”) The music exhibits the
influences of Pärt, Boards of Canada, and
GY!BE.

- Electrogaze
-
Tiny remnants and split infinitives:
current_working_directory combines the lushness of
shoegaze with the texture of the electronic,
yielding songs equally full of harmony as of beats:
electrogaze.

- Cassettenova
- Participop
-
Cassettenova (né Ari Joseph) is an indulgent
instrumental polygamist, married to many in the
service of music. His more nauseating friends have
called him a “f*cking sick saxophonist“
but you and I know better. His work spans bmore
remixes, sound design, theatrical scoring,
lo–fi production, instrument building, old
school Brazilian record spinning and getting his ass
kicked by polyrhythms and Deerhoof chord
progressions. Ergo, he's an indecisive prick that
won't make you any promises about teaching you blues
guitar. He is debuting a new work called
“pesquisa”, never before performed and
probably not yet conceived as of this writing.

Steven Litt is a recent graduate of the Interactive
Telecommunications Program of NYU, where he spent
two years designing and building. He is the creator
of CrudBox, a robotic rhythm machine that controls
electronic or electromechanical devices, amplifying
their sounds in real time. His work mixes the raw,
abrasive sounds of noise and electroacoustic music
with the rhythms of electronic dance music. He is
an artist, designer, and musician. As a result, he
lives in Greenpoint, Brooklyn.

- Lori Napoleon
- Electro
-
Lori Napoleon is an interdisciplinary artist and
performer who is interested in creating immersive
environments inspired by the physics of sound and
light. Her background in the hybrid art and science
of holography fuels her continued explorations in
process and material, and the limitless creative
potential intrinsic in challenging our assumptions
about everyday objects. As an
artist–experimenter, her motivations lie in
curiosity, and the desire to create experiences that
didn't exist before, by way of making one's own
tools, or breaking the ones they already have.

- And Um Yeah
- Noisy Electro–Psychedelic
-
And Um Yeah conjures a noisy
electro–psychedelic swell and turns it into a
song. Using handmade instruments, custom software,
and creatively modified electronics, they will
attempt to lure you in a world of fun and fear that
you can only see by closing your eyes and pressing
on your eyeballs. And um... yeah.

- Nullsleep
- Chiptune
-
Jeremiah Johnson is an electronic musician and
computer artist currently enrolled in the
Interactive Telecommunications Program at NYU. His
work is focused primarily on the use of repurposed
low–bit electronics for creative expression in
an ongoing effort to leverage their limitations. In
1999 he cofounded 8bitpeoples, a collective of
artists interested in the audio–visual
aesthetics of early home computers and video game
consoles, and has since released a number of
recordings under the name Nullsleep through
8bitpeoples, Astralwerks, Aniplex and others. Based
in New York City, Johnson has performed extensively
throughout North America, Europe and Asia, including
the 20–date International Chiptune Resistance
world tour in 2006.
